Gore To Establish Operations In China

In an effort to expand the company’s manufacturing capabilities, W.L. Gore & Associates Inc., Newark, Del., will establish a fabrics-manufacturing operation in China.

The new facility, located near Hong Kong, will begin production of Gore-Tex® fabrics for both the regional and export markets in 2003. Thirty to 50 positions are expected to be filled by the end of 2002.

“Asia has emerged as a formidable textile supply and innovation center,” said Terri Kelly, fabrics business leader. “This region also presents significant market opportunities. We are very excited about the global supply chain flexibility and international market potential that operations on three continents will provide.”

The company has operations in Europe, North America and the Asia Pacific region.
