Indo-Rama On Expansion Path
India-based Indo-Rama Synthetics Ltd. has announced an alliance with Zimmer AG, the German construction and engineering company, to expand its polyester facility in Butibori. The project is worth 9 billion Indian rupees (approximately $199 million).Indo-Rama currently produces more than 300,000 metric tons of polyester annually. When the expansion is completed in September 2005, production will increase to about 600,000 metric tons.O P Lohia, Indo-Rama’s managing director, said the expansion is necessary as the plant was running over capacity in the past two years.With this project, the company aims to double the daily production of polyester staple fibers and partially oriented yarns from 800 metric tons to 1,600 metric tons.
