Gerber Technology Expands In China
U.S.-based Gerber Technology has expanded its Advanced Technology Center (ATC) in Shanghai and relocated it in the Caohejing Hi-Tech Park. The $2 million, 27,000-square-foot facility also comprises the company’s Engineering Technology Center, and its sales and service operations. The ATC offers a factory-simulated environment to demonstrate Gerber’s automated spreading and cutting systems, plotters, and computer-aided design and WebPDM™ product lifecycle management systems. In addition, the facility serves as a center for product demonstration, software testing, system training, customer telephone support, local product development, engineering and strategic purchasing.According to Gerber, China has been the company’s second-largest market after the U.S. for the past three years. It expects to have approximately 200 personnel in China by the end of 2004, an increase of more than 50 percent in 12 months.
