Wacker-Chemie, Dymatic Open Silicone Joint Venture Company In China

Germany-based Wacker-Chemie GmbH recently opened a silicone joint venture company in Shunde, China, with China-based Dymatic Chemicals Inc., a supplier of silicone- and organic chemicals-based process auxiliaries and finishing agents. The new company, operating under the name Wacker Dymatic Shunde Co. Ltd., will manufacture and market silicone emulsions and process auxiliaries for the fiber, textile and leather industries in China.

According to Wacker, Dymatic’s extensive distribution network will allow it to penetrate these markets in China much quicker than would be possible independently.

“China is an extremely important market for us,” said Dr. Christoph von Plotho, president, Wacker Silicones. “China’s textile industry has become the largest producer worldwide. Market experts anticipate[d] further growth of 15 to 20 percent for 2005. The demand for silicone products in this sector is developing at a similar rate.”
