Karl Mayer To Launch New Machinery

Germany-based Karl Mayer Textilmaschinenfabrik GmbH reports it will launch its HKS 4 F terry tricot and JL 36/1 B Jacquardtronic®Lace machines during the third quarter of 2006.

The new HKS 4 F, based on Karl Mayer’s HK 4 tricot platform and developed for use in manufacturing terry towels made with filament yarns, is an optimized version of the company’s HKS 4 FB(Z) terry tricot machine. The new machine offers up to 75-percent increased performance at a 25-percent-lower price compared with the HKS 4 FB(Z), according to the company. The HKS 4 F retains the standard E 24 and E 28 gauges, but its working width has been increased from 136 inches to 186 inches, allowing simultaneous production of two 2.2-meter-wide fabric webs. Trials currently are underway for processing of staple-fiber yarns, and the machine can easily be converted into a standard HKS 4 machine in order to produce the full product range available on the standard model, the company reports.

The JL 36/1 B is a modification of the compact JL 36/1, one of three models in the JacquardtronicLace product line — each targeted to specific applications. The JL 36/1 is used for production of lace in the low-bar segment, achieving top speeds of 630 revolutions per minute. The original version has the jacquard bar located in the front position. The new B version features the jacquard bar in the back position, allowing end-product manufacturers flexibility to choose the configuration that best suits their needs.
