Saigon Textile & Garment Industry Expo 2006
More
than 250 exhibitors and 9,000 visitors participated in the 2005 edition of the Saigon Textile &
Garment Industry Expo in Hochiminh City, Vietnam. The 2006 edition of the show — to be held April
4-7 — will again bring the latest textile and apparel machinery innovations to the Hochiminh City
International Exhibition and Convention Centre. The expo is organized by the Ministry of Industry,
the Vietnam National Textile & Garment Corp. (VINATEX) and the Vietnam Textile and Apparel
Association (VITAS).
Over the past five years, Vietnam’s textile market has recorded high growth rates with the
second-highest export turnover in the country’s economy. According to show organizers, export
revenues are expected to reach US$8 billion to 9 billion by 2010. Show organizers also state that
VINATEX is set to invest heavily in new textile, finishing, knitting and embroidery machines over
the next four years.
