ACIMIT, ICE To Host Workshop In Mumbai

As part of an ongoing promotional program that aims to establish and maintain close ties between the textile industries in Italy and India, the Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers (ACIMIT) and the Italian Institute for Foreign Trade (ICE) willl host a technology workshop on the Italian textile machinery industry Nov. 23, 2007, in Mumbai.

The workshop will present a summary of machines and technologies offered by ACIMIT's 200 member companies, as well as showcase specific Italian manufacturers, introducing their recent technologies to the Indian textile market.

India has become an important trading partner with Italy with regard to textile machinery exports. Exports of Italian machinery to India — led by spinning, weaving and finishing machines — were valued at 183 million euros in 2006, a 43-percent increase over exports in 2005. Italian exports to India from January 2007 to April 2007 were valued at 45 million euros.
