Invista To Acquire Honeywell's Asia Pacific Nylon 6 Business

Wichita, Kan.-based Invista has agreed to purchase, via a wholly foreign-owned China-based enterprise, the assets of Morris Township, N.J.-based Honeywell International Inc.’s Asia Pacific nylon 6 bulk continuous filament (BCF) business, including its plant in Shanghai, for an undisclosed price. Closing of the transaction is expected in early 2007.

The Shanghai facility manufactures white dyeable and solution-dyed nylon 6 BCF, and also can process heathered, twisted and heat-set yarns.

The goal of this acquisition is to better serve the needs of mill customers and consumers in Asia Pacific by adding locally produced BCF to our present Antron® carpet fiber and Stainmaster® carpet offerings,” said Alan Wolk, president, Invista Interiors, Kennesaw, Ga. “Once the transaction is concluded, we hope to build from its current strengths and apply our resources and capabilities to improve and grow the business. The plant in Shanghai also provides an excellent growth platform for future expansions of our nylon 6,6 business in Asia Pacific.”

Plans call for the integration of production and marketing of nylon 6 BCF into Invista’s Asia Pacific business offering to its commercial-, residential-, rug- and transportation-sector customers in that region.
