Texmac India Postponed Until After 2009

Germany-based Internationaler Messe- und Ausstellungsdienst GmbH (IMAG) and India-based Fair Design India Pvt. Ltd., organizers of the international textile machinery exhibition Texmac India that was to have been held in April 2009 in New Delhi, have announced the show will be further postponed until a date sometime after 2009. An opinion poll conducted among sponsors, exhibitors, machinery associations and other partners indicated that postponing the show beyond 2009 was preferred because of the difficult conditions in the textile machinery industry at the present time. According to show organizers, the industry has seen a 60-percent decline worldwide in orders for textile machinery.

Show organizers hope that supporting measures for India's textile industry proposed following the country's national elections, as well as stabilizing economic reforms, will form the basis for a more successful show. New dates for the show will be announced as soon as they are determined.

The plan is for the second edition of Texmac India to occur concurrently with the Asian Textile Conference (ATEXCON), which is organized by IMAG's India-based partner, Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI).

The first edition of Texmac India, held in 2007, attracted approximately 200 exhibitors and 6,000 visitors.
