ShanghaiTex 2009: A Successful Conclusion
Biennial textile machinery exhibition attracted nearly 50,000 visitors to see products, technologies and services offered by more than 1,000 exhibitors.

he 14th International Exhibition on Textile Industry (ShanghaiTex 2009) was held June
12-15, filling 100,000 square meters of exhibit space at the Shanghai New International Expo Center
(SNIEC) in Shanghai's Pudong district. According to show organizers, the event closed successfully,
with more than 1,000 exhibitors from 22 countries and regions showing their products, technologies
and services to 49,348 visitors from 40 countries and regions.
Reflecting the difficulties caused by the current global economic downturn, ShanghaiTex 2009 attracted considerably fewer exhibitors and visitors than the 2007 edition of the show, which drew more than 1,400 exhibitors and some 108,000 visitors. However, exhibitors at the 2009 event reported increased on-the-spot reserved sales, totaling 100 million renminbi, during the first two days of the show, compared with such sales at ShanghaiTex 2007. Sales of printing and knitting machinery in particular were reported to be more active, with some exhibitors taking more orders than they had anticipated.
Exhibitors reportedly were pleased with the quality and professionalism of ShanghaiTex visitors, who likewise complimented the exhibitors, with more than 90 percent of overseas buyers expressing satisfaction with the show.
"I am glad to see that the exhibition has been held continuously with quality of exhibitors becoming better and better, the products displayed are the latest ones, and exhibition service has been improving too," said Sam C.S. Hwa, president of Taiwan-based textile machinery spare parts supplier En-Hwa Industrial Co. Ltd. Hwa has attended every ShanghaiTex since its inception. "I always regard ShanghaiTex as one of the important events to visit and plan the visit one year ahead of the show!"

Concurrent Events
A pre-show forum, China Textile Summit 2009, themed "Crisis & Opportunities," took place on June 11. Presenters included Long Yongtu, secretary general of the Boao Forum for Asia, who discussed the economic situation, both in China and worldwide, and encouraged the textile industry to seize opportunities to transform itself and upgrade operations; and Gao Yong, vice president of China Textile Industry Association and president of China Textile Machinery Association, who analyzed initiatives being undertaken that can provide direction to the Chinese textile industry. The forum attracted nearly 700 attendees from 500 companies.
That evening, ShanghaiTex's 25th anniversary was celebrated during a dinner event that was attended by more than 1,000 industry representatives.
This year's ShanghaiTex also included fashion parades that presented the latest technologies from leading knitting machinery exhibitors. In addition, more than 20 technical seminars were offered, covering new developments in the various textile technologies.
ShanghaiTex 2009 sponsors include Shanghai Textile Holding (Group) Corporation, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Shanghai Sub-council and China Chamber of International Commerce Shanghai Chamber of Commerce. The show's organizers include Shanghai International Exhibition Co. Ltd., Shanghai Textile Technology Service & Exhibition Center and Adsale Exhibition Services Ltd. The show also received support from 16 provinces in China, and nearly 20 Chinese and overseas textile associations, which organized delegations of buyers to attend the event.

ShanghaiTex 2009: 成绩美满
第十四届上海国际纺织工业展览会 (ShanghaiTex 2009) 于6月12日至15日假座上海浦东上海新国际博览中心展出。展会占地广达10万平方米，主办机构表示展会成绩美满，来

届的参展商表示，于展会首两天取得的即场预签订单，较2007年有所增长， 总值达 1 亿元人民币。各界别中，以印花及针织设备尤受欢迎，部分参展商取得的订单量更较预期为多。
受访的参展商均表示对参观业者的素质及专业水平感到满意；而参观者亦对参展商的展品大为赞赏，逾90%海外买家对展会表示满意。

同场活动
展会于6月11日举行2009年度中国纺织行业高峰论坛。峰会围绕“危机 商机 契机”等主题深入分析。讲者之一博鳌亚洲论坛秘书长龙永图深入探讨中国及全球各地当今的经济形势， 同时又鼓励纺织业者把握机遇调整业务，致力提升运作效率。另一讲者中国纺织工业协会副会长暨中国纺织机械器材工业协会理事长高勇则分析未来领导中国纺织业的新发展。 峰会的出席者甚为踊跃，包 括约700名个人业者及500个企业。
ShanghaiTex更于当天晚上举办晚宴，作 25周年之庆；宴会上，超过1000名业界代表聚首一堂，齐贺展会的银禧纪念。
今年的 ShanghaiTex 同时亦举办时装表演，由领先的针织设备参展商展示最新的针织技术；另外亦为与会者提供逾20个技术研讨会，介绍纺织业内各个范畴的新发展。
2009年度ShanghaiTex展主办单位包括上海纺织控股 (集团) 公司、中国国际贸易促进委员会上海市分会及中国国际商会上海商会；承办单位则为上海市国际展览有限公司、上 海纺织技术服务展览中心及香港雅式展览服务有限公司。此外， 展会亦广获中国16个省分支持，更有近20个国内、外的纺织业组织统筹买家团参观。
