Oerlikon Neumag Sells Man-Made Fiber Plant To Taiwan-Based Firm

Germany-based Oerlikon Neumag reports it has sold a man-made staple fiber plant to Taiwan-based fiber producer Far Eastern New Century Corp. (FENC). The plant — expected to begin commercial production in mid-2011 — will have a capacity of 300 tons per day, which Oerlikon Neumag reports will be the highest installed capacity found in a single fiber production line anywhere in the world. The plant will produce specialty polyester staple fibers for nonwovens applications. Oerlikon Neumag will supply the equipment, as well as commission and erect the facility.

"We are very pleased that FENC has chosen us as a partner for this exceptional project," said Georg Stausberg, head, Oerlikon Neumag. "The high capacity realized in a single line, combined with a high quality of the end product are the best pre-conditions for an economical benefit and competitive participation in the hard-fought staple fiber business."
