Shanghai Welcomes Back ShanghaiTex
Organizers of the 15th edition of ShanghaiTex are putting an emphasis on green manufacturing.

hanghaiTex 2011, the 15th International Exhibition on Textile Industry, will converge at
the Shanghai New International Expo Centre in Shanghai, June 14-17. In 2009, the biennial show
celebrated 25 years since its inception and was acclaimed as a successful event. Its organizers —
Shanghai International Exhibition Co. Ltd., Shanghai Textile Technology Service & Exhibition
Center, and Adsale Exhibition Services Ltd. — are looking forward to an equally successful show
this year.
More than 49,000 visitors attended the last edition of ShanghaiTex in 2009.
Established in 1984, ShanghaiTex boasts the longest history of any textile trade show in China. The show is sponsored by Shanghai Textile Holding (Group) Corp., China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Shanghai Sub-council, and China Chamber of International Commerce Shanghai Chamber of Commerce. Co-organizers include Shanghai Xinfang Textile Engineering Co. Ltd., Shanghai Huafang Exhibition Service Co. Ltd., Beijing Yazhan Exhibition Services Ltd., and Shanghai Dahua Exhibition & Conference Corp.
Organizers report that despite the global financial crisis and slowdown in the textile industry, the industry in China still achieved 10.3-percent growth with a gross industry output value of 3,798 billion renminbi in 2009. During the first month of 2010, gross industry output increased 27 percent over the preceding year. ShanghaiTex organizers hope exhibitors and visitors will see the still-booming Chinese textile industry as a primary reason to participate in ShanghaiTex 2011.
This year, more than 1,000 exhibitors are expected to participate in the trade show in an estimated area of 100,000 square meters housed in eight exhibition halls. It is anticipated that approximately 50,000 visitors will come to view the latest technology and machinery for the textile industry.In 2009, roughly 1,000 exhibitors from 22 countries participated in ShanghaiTex, and 49,348 visitors from 40 countries and regions attended.
International Group Delegation Programme
For 2011, ShanghaiTex has introduced the International Group Delegation Programme to meet the overseas demand from customers interested in Chinese textile machinery. Companies or associations with 10 or more people attending the show are encouraged to form buyers groups, which will entitle them to a set of services including express registration at the group delegation counter, free use of the visitors lounge, a networking program, travel packages and connections with potential business partners.
"Customers join the exhibition for its benefit and the business potential that could be captured at the show," said Stanley Chu, chairman, Adsale Exhibition Services. "Therefore, we endeavor to attract more buyers via extensive promotions in order to build an effective business platform."
In 2009, 16 Chinese provinces supported the exhibition, and almost 20 local and international textile associations supported buyer delegations at the show.
The Shanghai New International Expo Centre, marked on the map by a star, will host ShanghaiTex 2011.
Environmentally Friendly Manufacturing
For the 2011 edition of the show, organizers are putting the emphasis on "green" manufacturing. The Chinese government currently is promoting a low-carbon economy, and manufacturers are seeking to upgrade existing machinery to equipment with energy-saving features and featuring low carbon emissions. The demand for energy-saving machinery is expected to continue to increase because of the limited nature of natural resources and the threat of global warming.
ShanghaiTex 2011 will cover a full range of textile machinery, technology, software, spare parts and chemicals, among other offerings.To facilitate buyers' visits to the show, all exhibits will be organized according to theme zones as follows: Spinning, Nonwoven & Techtextile Machinery Zone; Knitting & Hosiery Machinery Zone; Warp-Knitting, Embroidery and Weaving Machinery Zone; Printing, Dyeing & Finishing Machinery & Textile Chemicals Zone; and Spare Parts & Accessories Zone.
Various pavilions will be set up to showcase exhibitors from the respective countries. As of TW Asia 's press time, companies committed to exhibit at the German Pavilion include Karl Mayer, Terrot, Mayer & Cie., Erhardt + Leimer, Andritz Küsters and Brückner. Companies exhibiting at the Korean Pavilion include knitting technology companies Samsung Knitting Needle, Dongsin, Hyun Dae and Nam Seo.
The show floor will be open from 9:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. on June 14-16, and from 9:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. on June 17. Admission is free, and visitors may pre-register online or register on-site during the show.
